that book you didn't let me buy, the picture you printed at a ripoff, the blueberry waffle, the rose poem, the calls from the various countries, that retro combi of a present, coming to pass me the airflown present, turning up for dinner, coming out of camp for dinner, the leney day post, the big present and the even bigger meaning behind it, the alcoholic cake, the girls.. and i'm sure there's stuff i'm not remembering..

cousin and i were talking over lunch a few days back, and she was telling me about some useless people in her life who just keep taking but never quite give back. i was thinking about it, and i realized that hey, certain people in my life are like that too. but the greater realization was, what sucks is that whilst grousing in some corner about how such people just keep taking, the blame is perhaps upon one's own stupidity for such repeated giving in the first place. so, while it's sad to have identified such people, at least i can find relief in knowing that those who matter don't fall into this tragic category.

i haven't been posting because i've been busy, and lazy too.

school's out for me, flying off to London (the real one) tonight. there's been many little things to be happy and excited for, and amused about (:

(a) i was struggling so bad with my luggage. even though the door to the bus station was just 50m from the sidewalk, after the cab driver dropped me off i couldn't make it to the door on my own. then two men popped out from nowhere and carried my bags for me while i trotted along behind them. yay!

(b) Aunty Ann does it again! she prepared for us so much food, curry and laksa, cos she thought we'd miss local food like crazy. i'm just reminded of how Pea, Evan and i were talking about our little arrangements that time, and how people get so amazed at it.

(c) little random ways of having someone pop into my life

(d) Evan just told me something to the effect of goodies (okay, linglongs) waiting for me in NY. whee i love my friends :)

(e) there was one day that i had 6 currencies on me! swiss francs, pound sterling, USD, CAD$, SGD and euros

.. i'm sure there's a lot more things that'd come to mind later, but right now i've many random things to do in preparation to leave. and yes, i'm lazy also la.

one last thing; HI DADDY! my dad stalks me online and complains i don't update.

i had such a horrid morning it's unbelievable. went out intending to post a wedding card, buy a calling card and groceries at A&P. the bus i took didn't go to A&P as i thought it would, so i had to cross the road and go back. i took the bus back to school (i stay between school and A&P), and caught the right bus. so i finally reached A&P, and found the shop that sells the calling card. nice. and then, as i was about to pay for the calling card, i couldn't find my wallet in my bag! i was like.. *&#^%$%# and i just wanted to faint. then i started worrying maybe i lost my wallet, so i hurried home. just when i thought it wouldn't get any worse, i realized it started snowing. argh. and, to make me doubly irked, Grandma Kate was ringing for me with that bell of hers like i'm a dog. but when i got to her, i realized she had mail for me..

and it was a vday card and little present for me from taiz! aww thanks guys, you had my day made (:
pp, you owe me big for not writing on it! for that, you're eternally doomed to crappy presents :P

spring break's here! and after arduous planning, Elle and i are headed to Montreal and Quebec City over the next week. we've got travel and accommodation settled, so what's left is figuring out where to go and what to do. ahh.. tiring. and this is only for a week. think planning for the two and a half months is gonna drive me mad. geez..

i'm glad this random and spontaneous trip with Elle came about though, else i'd just be bumming around doing pretty much nothing. hope the trip will be great, and that the weather won't be too daunting since Montreal/Quebec City is all about walking around and looking at stuff.

and so i took a train to Missisauga. aunty Ann and uncle Kam came to pick me up, and no time was wasted in getting me to Chinese food! bonus: had this yam thing that reminded me of my buddy!!

dropped by Pacific Mall, which is like mini Hong Kong. Scarborough is unbelievably Chinese!

next up; the main event of the trip, which is the SMA dinner. it was big and fancy, like a wedding banquet. not quite my kinda thing actually. but it was fun, and i got to meet some people too :)

one of the classic events of the night was this famous feng shui dude who was forecasting for the year. he said things like, for optimal results study in the northeast of your house, put your wealth in the north, avoid the south of your house etc. his name is Poney, sure commands respect eh?

Sunday after church, aunty Ann brought me to this restaurant that serves Singapore food. look, Nasi Lemak! and Tiger Beer, Singapore's (only) successful export. cousin and i said before we can't quite figure out why.

lastly, here's what aunty Ann packeted for me!

it's interesting how i ended up having a sort of Chinese New Year thing going on, when to begin with i was perfectly happy being here and not having any semblance of a cny celebration. everyone knows how bane i am to cny. still, it was nice being spoilt big time over the weekend, and finally getting to eat some Chinese food. thanks a lot, aunty Ann and uncle Kam!
